WORLD Racing Looks Forward To Season Finales

By:  Chris Harrington

October 10th 2006 - Reading Pa.  Christian Rado’s  Scion, WORLD Electronics, WORLD Motorsports, ACT, JE Pistons, Bosch, Weismann and Goodridge sponsored Pro Front-wheel-drive Scion tC has firmly established its position as a front runner in both NHRA and NDRA  sport compact drag racing national championship events thanks to the hard work and skill of the WORLD Racing team.  With a brand new car that was not ready for testing until the middle of the ‘06 season, Rado’s opponents might have thought that he was not going to be a factor in the championships.  With a dedicated team of professionals behind him however, Rado has beaten the odds and the WORLD Racing team has pushed the car deep into the seven-second zone.

“We are still on a steep learning curve with the car but every time we run we go a little faster and learn a little more.”  Explained Rado.  “The chassis is working perfectly and the car is really stable at speed so we are confident that we can push the car a lot harder.  The chassis was designed to enable us to use a larger front tire to give us plenty of traction and our time-slips prove that we are already achieving incredible results.  We still have plenty of power to come but our focus has been on the chassis set-up and the clutch up till now and we are very happy with both at this stage.  The launch is really important in drag racing, especially in a front-wheel-drive car and I’m sure that our Scion tC is hitting harder than any of our rivals and we have a lot more to come.  Bearing in mind that we have less than fifteen passes on the car I am very optimistic about the next couple of events.”

Rado’s confidence was justified at the NHRA Fall Nationals at Englishtown, New Jersey on September 30th-October 3rd.

“We made a statement by showing that we can run consistent seven-second times and our best pass was a 7.895 at 173 MPH. Considering that we are still not using anything like the power that our engine is capable of producing we are very happy.”

Crew chief Shane Tecklenburg emphasized the importance of a methodical approach to setting up what is essentially, still a new car.  “We have made a huge amount of progress and the hard work of the crew and Chris is finally starting to yield results. We still have to make some changes to get the absolute best out of the car, but so far, we’re doing very well.  Our clutch program is now in the capable hands of Frank Piccone and our 60’ numbers show that he is getting a handle on it very quickly. I am confident that we can start adding more horsepower to the mix and we will start to see what the car is really capable of doing. The most important thing for us to remember at this stage is to be methodical with the changes we make so we have accurate data to work with.”

Chris Rado’s intentions are clear going into the final NDRA and NHRA events of the year:  “We are taking no prisoners. I want to give our rivals something to think about starting next weekend at the NDRA event at Norwalk, Ohio on October 14th and 15th and then again at the NHRA event at Pomona, CA on October 21st and 22nd.  We are ready to put on a great show for the fans and I am looking forward to giving all of the Scion owners something to cheer about.”
