Road Atlanta Time Attack Appearance for Rado
By: Chris Harrington
Reading, PA – August 11, 2006. Sport Compact drag racer Chris Rado will be driving a lot further than a quarter mile when he gets on the track this weekend (i.e. August 12-14) at the famous Road Atlanta road circuit in Braselton, GA. Rado will be making his third appearance in the Time Attack qualifying rounds in his turbocharged Scion tC and is optimistic about his chances of doing well around Road Atlanta which is situated in the rolling hills of Northeast Georgia.
“I have been having a great time driving in the time attack series and my Scion tC is proving to be a real contender in my class.” Rado enthused. “I have been extremely competitive and even though I am known as a drag racer I have always enjoyed road racing as well. The chance to compete in the Time Attack series has been a great opportunity for me to show another side of my driving abilities and have some fun.”
Rado has used all of his drag racing experience to extract maximum performance from his Scion tC and also sees the road-racing as a perfect test-bed for high performance upgrades that WORLD Motorsports are developing in conjunction with Twins Turbo’s Eric and Marc Kozeluh for the Scion tC.
“We are using the track time to test our products by taking them to the absolute limit. That way, we can market the products knowing that in day-to-day street driving they will perform to our customers highest expectations.”
Joining Chris Rado behind the wheel of the Scion tC for the Road Atlanta event will be J.R. Gitten, the famed driver of the Falken drift car. The drag racer and the drifter will share track sessions in the Scion tC.
“Sharing the car with J.R. will be a great experience.” Rado said. “We come from completely different ends of the Sport Compact spectrum so it will be fun to compare our styles and times. Maybe we can both learn a little from each other.”
To help with the tune-up, setup, and track-side maintenance Rado has enlisted Eric and Marc Kozeluh of “Twins Turbo” fame and support for the Scion Time Attack project has come from Scion, WORLD electronics, WORLD Motorsports, ACT Clutches, APR Performance, Momo, KW suspension and Sinister Racecars and a special shout out goes to James at Axis Wheels
