RADO’S SCION TC “REAPS” FIRST WIN

By:  Chris Harrington

August 5th 2006 – Reading, Pa.  As the NOPI drag racing series finished up its Northeastern swing in New England, Christian Rado and his WORLD Racing team snatched their first victory of 2006.  The win came as Rado’s opponent in the finals, Jason Hunt, was unable to start the race due to mechanical woes leaving Rado to cruise to a win on a solo pass.

The WORLD Racing team continues to make significant progress towards the seven-second zone and beyond.  Indeed, the team’s new 2006 Scion tC, which debuted only a week ago, marked a new best in New England by running 8.28 and 8.27 passes.

“We are making small changes in the set-up and trying to see how the car reacts.” Crew Chief Shane Tecklenburg explained.  “So far we have been very conservative with the tune-up because we are concentrating on the chassis.  We are now at the point where the car is launching very hard and drives straight down the track.  Now we can start increasing the power so we should see a rapid improvement over the next few weeks.”

Rado was pleased to see his team working so well together:  “I can’t say what a huge difference it makes to have a group of dedicated professionals on the team.  These guys are the best and it’s a joy to watch them in action.”

Rado went on to explain what happened in the final round.  “Jason Hunt had to withdraw from the finals because he had a mechanical issue with his car.  I would much rather have had a real race to take the win but we’ll take it anyway we can get it.  Credit for this one goes to everyone on the team, my family, supporters and all of my sponsors.  I’d like to pay special thanks to ace clutch tuner and all-around good guy Frankie Piccone for making a special effort to help us out this weekend.”

With the car improving dramatically every time it runs, confidence is high within the team and further progress is expected to yield race winning performances for the rest of 2006 and into the 2007 season.

“We have the dream team and an awesome car.”  Rado enthused.  “I have spent most of my career working towards this and now’s the time to show what we can do.  Scion, WORLD electronics, WORLD Motorsports, ACT, JE Pistons, Bosch, Weismann and Goodridge have each showed a lot of confidence in our team and we’re ready to justify everything they’ve done for us and take the sport to the next level.”

The next event on the tour for the WORLD Racing team is the 2nd Annual Palm Beach NHRA Sport Compact Nationals at Moroso Motorsports Park in Jupiter, Florida on August 19-20, 2006.
